Nine days into a cross country road trip, I stopped in Kansas City, Missouri to see Union Station. It was pouring when I arrived, but when the rain eased up later on, I ventured out to photograph exteriors. The humidity was intense, but I wanted to see a bit more of Kansas City.
Ascending the parking exit ramp, I beheld an excellent semi-cylindrical structure and pulled over to shoot it from my car window. The Western Auto sign atop the building is encircled by an arrow. Since the sign is not parallel to the flat side of the brick edifice, it draws attention to the building's curved design.
The exit ramp's decorative concrete railing angles across the foreground beginning in the lower left corner of the frame. Aside from a few much shorter buildings to the left of the Western Auto building, the background is sky with a few clouds.

Double Arch Refrigerator Magnet
It's a hot August day in Arches National Park near Moab, Utah. What I love about Arches, and the Southwest in general, is how foreign much of the terrain looks compared to the green rolling mountains to which I'm accustomed. The light is severe and the rock structures alien.
In this color photograph, two immense Entrada Sandstone arches give the very impressive Double Arch its name. To appreciate its massiveness, find the tiny person in the photo, just climbing up out of the shadow of the foreground arch. I climbed up to the base of the background arch myself, and it was a sheer drop on the other side of it.
The foreground arch forms a rough oval opening near the center of the frame. The rock formation extends out to the left, in sun, and to the right, in shadow. Through it you can see the second arch curving down to meet the rock wall in the background. The light-colored sandstone shows many dark striations in its shadowed portions. Beyond and above the arches, three sections of light blue sky highlight the tan sandstone structures.

On The Golden Gate Bridge Postcard
Looking up as I walked across the Golden Gate Bridge one sunny afternoon in San Francisco, California, one of its massive suspension cables loomed overhead. It stretches out of the upper right corner of the photograph to the top of an red-orange tower near the center. The suspension cable on the left seems skinny in comparison as it meets the center of the left edge of frame, the bridge's symmetry made askew by the perspective.
Pairs of suspender ropes hang from the main cables, the ones on the left side of the bridge giving the clear blue sky a pinstripe effect in the lower left corner of the photo. Without the road in view, the geometry of the International Orange painted bridge is accentuated against the blue sky.

Brown Suede With Strap And Buckle iPhone 4 Case
Add some steampunk style to your life with a close-up photograph of rich brown suede. A belt of the same rough brown leather stretches loosely across the upper third of the image.
