Out photographing after a summer rainstorm, I was drawn to the bold pattern of moss on bark. The aging pine tree bark has faded and lost some of its outermost layers. Vibrant green moss is growing in vertical grooves in the bark. The macro photograph shows the alternating stripes of bark and moss as well as the texture of each. The bark is layered, scaly, with fine gradations of color: grays, browns, and even pale green. The moss is comprised of myriad short fine hairs, as though the tree wanted some green fur highlights.

Flowering Rhubarb Stalks Card
Beautiful custom card features an original color photo of flowering rhubarb stalks. You can leave it blank to suit any occasion or add your own message.

A thick green rhubarb stem rises through the left side of frame. Two branches with stalks of tiny pale yellow-green flowers angle diagonally up to the right while two short stalks of buds attached to the main stem point to the left of frame for a nice compositional balance. A brown papery leaf surrounds the joints of the thin branches to the main stem. Another reddish-brown leaf hangs from the top of frame along the stem.
A keen observer will notice that the shadowed tree trunks in the upper third of the background are all tilted so that the rhubarb plant appears vertical. The lower two-thirds of the background contains mostly ferns and periwinkle, an indistinctly textured array of greens. Shallow depth of field and sunlight highlight the flowering rhubarb stalks in the foreground of the color photograph.

Light patterns on water postcard
I've long enjoyed David Hockney's pool paintings, so when I saw this pattern of light reflection on the water, I had to photograph it even at the risk of falling in. I leaned over as far as I could, my eye to the viewfinder of my film camera, to get the overhead perspective. Strong calves FTW!

Vintage Curved Colonnade photograph
A curved colonnade sweeps across the foreground of the original black and white photograph leading to a pavilion with a performance space in the background. The double row of white Corinthian columns support a roof which curves from right to left and back to right again.
Photographed from a low angle outside the structure, the ceiling and its support beams are visible. In the upper right corner of the frame, a dark cluster of leafy vines hang. The leaves frame the decorative arch of the stage in the background. On the left side of frame, a few trees and bushes can be seen in the distance beyond the architecture.
The film grain gives the photo a vintage look.
