Rows of interlocking scales form a geometric pattern that ranges from dark to light blue. Their outlines, in contrast, range from light to dark blue. The Prussian blue watercolor paint strokes visible within the fan shapes show variations in the color and reveal the texture of the watercolor paper they were originally made on.
